PLANT SALE 2012
– TO BE OR NOT TO BE??
Over the last six years the Parish has worked towards and held three extremely successful plant sales which have raised a total in excess of $50,000. These fantastic results have been due to teams of dedicated parishioners who have provided nursery space, propagated, potted and nurtured thousands of plants and planned the logistics of the sale days.
If the parish is to continue this very lucrative fundraiser we need two key components;
1.    An area where a plant nursery, including a shade house, could be established. This would require access to a good water supply, be reasonably secure and preferably have easy access for cars and trailers.
2.    At least 2 or 3 people to lead a team responsible for the propagation, potting and nurturing of the plants. These people would need to be able to give several hours most weeks for eighteen months - two years, have some knowledge of propagation methods and the ability to plan and organise potting and weeding bees.
If you can help with either of these requirements, both of which are essential to a future plant sale, or would like further information, please contact Mary Mackintosh email treasurer@kaiapoianglican.org.nz

KAIAPOI COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS DINNER
This year there are plans to hold a Community Christmas Dinner in Kaiapoi, similar to that which has been held in Rangiora for the last three years and on a smaller scale to the City Mission’s Dinner in Christchurch.
This is being supported by Kaiapoi Community Support, Kaiapoi Promotions Association and the local churches. Each group is being asked if they can gather a team together to help plan and prepare a Christmas Dinner for 100 people from our community who might otherwise spend Christmas Day alone.
As well as a team to help with the preparations during the next few months we will also need a few (approx. 3-4) who can help on Christmas Day itself, maybe a family who would like to join in the dinner.
Tasks that need to be done include set-up, sponsorship sourced, food sourced and prepared, equipment, games, decorations, pack-up, promotion and invitations.

   Update:
Things are beginning to take shape with the menu decided and quantities of each item indicated subject to final numbers of attendees. Letters have been written to possible sponsors, with some favourable replies coming in.
  Thank you to those who have already offered their help, but there is room for more, on the day people will be required to help prepare food, plate it and serve, as well as the clearing away and packing up.        Of course those helping out are welcome to join in the meal if they wish. In addition people are needed to cook chickens, lamb or vegetables and deliver them hot to the Riverside Church late morning.
    Before the event there will be jellies to be made, tables to be decorated and various items of food etc. to be donated. I will have more details of exactly what in the months to come.

If anyone would like to know more, or would be available to help in anyway, please contact Mary Mackintosh email: treasurer@kaiapoianglican.org.nz

“Coffee & Cake” is a low key meeting of parents with pre-schoolers and/or school-age children. This group will meet every month on the second Wednesday from 10-11:30am. If you are interested in joining us for fellowship and play;
please contact the parish office.

2-4-6-8 (Youth Group)

This group meets on the second and fourth Thursday, 6pm to 8pm.Youth Group (the 2-4-6-8 Club). We have three adult leaders for Youth group this term. The team consists of Louise McKendry, Lisa Temple & Juan van Eyssen and they are taking different responsibilities each evening while still getting support from Phil Trotter as the Diocesan Youth advisor. Each evening the members receive a small meal for their tea at 6.30pm and they put $2.00 in as payment. The two parishioners supplying the tea get reimbursement for the major ingredients. If you would like to help with this please contact the Parish office.
Thank you to Juan van Eyssen for installing a new light by the basement so that it is safer for youth group. A piece of carpet has been donated for the youth group room from the Butterfield extended family and this will be sorted for size and bindings. Thank you to grandma.
