What is Cursillo?
Cursillo...
is a Spanish word which means 'short course'; for us it is a short course in Christian living and in our Diocese we usually hold 3 such courses each year a Men's, a Women's and a Combined Cursillo.
offers talks, discussions, prayer, laughter, music and singing, with times of reflection and silence, all centred around the daily Eucharist.
is a world wide movement of the Christian Church, which seeks in its own unique way, to make it possible to experience living in a Christian Community for three very special days!
is a time for listening and sharing ideas with fellow Christians who encounter the same struggles as each one of us.
is not a retreat; Cursillo is a workshop exploring the fundamentals of our christian faith within ajoyful environment.
Cursillo is an experience of Christian living ...
during three days that can be a new beginning, or a place of refreshment and encouragement on our Christian walk.
that is a crucible ftom which simple and effective Christian influences in our communities can grow.
which is unique, because everyone's experience of the Christian community is unique and as we all 'encounter' Christ differently, He meets us where we are on our joumey.
that is a ministry of lay people to lay people with the support and encouragement of the clergy and guided by the precepts of Scripture within the ethos of the Anglican Church.
The Cursillo experience begins ...
when you say in your heart ...'Here I am Lord, send me.'
with a joyous weekend in the light of God's abundant GRACE.
anew journey, and one from which very few go back to where they were.
The purpose of Cursillo is to encourage us to become Disciples of Christ and to be effective Christians in God's world.
'It is possible to encounter God in many ways other than Cursillo encountering God is easy it isfollowing Christ afterwards that is the challenge.'
As the focus and strength of the Cursillo Movement lies
beyond the three days...
small 'group reunions, meet regularly providing mutual support and encouraging spiritual accountability.
regular gatherings for all Cursillistas from our Diocese are held for fellowship and encouragement. there are opportunities to take part and lead future Cursillos.
